Email Setup for Netscape 4x

Requirements
You will need the following information.

  • Netscape 4x for Mac
  • Your login ID (user name) ex: (joeuser)
  • Your password


  1. Double-click the Hard Drive icon.
  2. Double-click the Netscape Communicator TM Folder icon.
  3. Double-click the Netscape Communicator TM icon.

  2. Click the Next button to start creating a user profile.
  3. In the Your Name text box, type your name.
  4. In the Email Address text box, type your NetHere username, immediately followed by @nethere.com.
    For example: username@nethere.com

  5. Click the Next button to confirm your name as the title for your standard Netscape Communicator profile.
  6. Click the Next button to confirm the default location for your preferences, bookmarks, etc.
  7. Click the Done button to confirm the first phase of configuring Communicator.
  8. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  9. Under category, make sure that Navigator is selected.

  10. In the Home page location text box, type http://www.nethere.com

  11. Click the triangle to the left of Mail & Groups to reveal more options.

  12. Under Mail & Groups, select Mail Server.
  13. In the Mail server user name text box, type your NetHere username, without a prefix.
  14. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server text box, type mail.nethere.net
  15. In the Incoming mail server text box, type pop3.nethere.net

  16. Click the More Options button.

  17. Check the Remember my mail password check box.
  18. Click the OK button.
  19. Under Mail & Groups, select Groups Server.

  20. In the Discussion groups (news) server text box, type news.nethere.net

  21. Click the OK button.
